I have a daughter getting ready to celebrate her 12th birthday. She's very much a tween and she's hard to surprise. Any ideas on what to do to make her birthday fun?

If your daughter is anything like mine, its all about friends and music. Gift cards from itunes or amazon are always welcome and safe. This way, they can get what they want through the medium they want. Be careful about arranging anything with friends (i.e. surprise event). These days, anything that is Mom's idea is a potentially embarrassing idea. Its all about image, you know.

Good luck! Let us know what you decide and how it turns out. I'm going to be in the same situation in about a month.
